The Fort Bard tour will be a journey through time between the Middle Ages and the Napoleonic era.
The guided tour begins with a walk along the medieval village of Bard built on the ancient Roman Road of the Gauls that today is part of the Via Francigena. It will catapult us into the Middle Ages when the village was an important center under the control of the dreaded Lords of Bard. The walk continues towards the Fort Bard, an imposing nineteenth-century fortress built on the ashes of the ancient castle destroyed by Napoleon Bonaparte who in May 1800 attempted for several days the siege of the castle of Bard. Together we will relive those legendary moments.

I’m Francesca and I’ve always lived in the Aosta Valley where I was born. After a diploma from the magistral institute and a master’s degree in foreign languages and literature. I worked at the Bard Fort as a museum assistant where I attended assisted visits to the monument and didactic workshops. A job that allowed me to get in touch with the most diverse people, adults, children, kids… And to discover the passion for the dissemination of the cultural assets of my region. I obtained the qualification of tourist guide in Italian, French, German and English with the aim of transmitting all my love for my region to tourists.
